Bristol Foodie: My Top 2

bristol01Bristol has an amazing atmosphere for a city, its not fast paced like London, which means there is ALWAYS time to stop for food!

Myself and my boyfriend are massive foodies, hence the Chunky Chick image! But it means we will try all sorts of places in order to find the best food in Bristol! My top two come in no particular order as they are completely different places to eat.

One of our first Bristol Favourites is the Hobgoblin on Gloucester Road. Its a chilled out hipster pub with a giant food challenge and a hilarious a pub quiz on a Sunday. There tag line is Beers, Burgers and BBQ and that sums it up pretty well, but it doesn’t emphasise the amazing taste of their food! Our favourite thing to eat here is dirty dirty Fries (as shown in the dirty dirty burger photo below) which consists of seasoned fries, pulled pork, BBQ sauce, blue cheese sauce, cheddar cheese and a delicious side mayo. The pork is smoked in the garden over hickory so its all fresh and flavoursome! Some sharing dishes I could easily bosh by myself, but this is definitely one to share as its huge! I have tried a couple of the burgers here such as the BB Burger (Bacon and Brie) and the Buffalo blue (Fried chicken, buffalo sauce and blue cheese mayo). And they are all incredible!  I’ve tried burgers and chips at five guys, Gourmet burger kitchen, and a few other places and this is by far the best! On the other end of the spectrum, we love Michelin star restaurants! We have been lucky enough to try a couple, one being Le Manoir in Oxfordshire. This is Ramond Blancs restaurant and the food and setting is incredible without a doubt. However… the place is really posh, and I felt a little out of place. So we then discovered the Pony and Trap in Chew Magna, Bristol. This is the restaurant of Josh Eggleton, who appeared on Great British Menu. Its a really cute country pub, right in the heart of the country side with great views. You feel totally relaxed in this restaurant. I have been here a few times, once trying the a la carte menu and twice doing the taster menu, paired with the wine flight and it has always been beautiful.  Again here is a link to the website for more information.
